FlowAtHome: Terms of Service & Client Agreement

Welcome to FlowAtHome. We are honoured to bring the healing arts of acupressure and massage to the comfort of your home.

To ensure a safe, professional, and therapeutic experience for both you and your practitioner, we require all clients to read and agree to the following terms before booking a session. This agreement forms the foundation of our therapeutic relationship, built on mutual respect and clear communication.

1. Your Informed Consent & Understanding of Treatment

By booking a session with FlowAtHome, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Nature of Treatment: You understand that your session may involve acupressure, massage, and/or related Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) modalities. These treatments involve the manipulation of the body's soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons) and the stimulation of specific points on the body through pressure, touch, and palpation for assessment and therapeutic purposes.
  • Potential Side Effects: While these therapies are generally safe and beneficial, you acknowledge that they may have side effects. These are typically minor and temporary, and may include muscle soreness, mild discomfort, bruising, numbness, tingling, or skin irritation. In rare instances, more serious complications can occur.
  • No Guaranteed Outcomes: You recognise that therapeutic results cannot be guaranteed. Acupressure and massage are valuable complements to a healthy lifestyle but are not a substitute for medical diagnosis, treatment, or care from a qualified physician.
  • Consent to Touch: You consent to your practitioner touching various areas of your body as is necessary to perform a professional assessment and provide effective treatment.
  • Use of Aromatherapy: To enhance the therapeutic experience, your session will include the use of pure essential oils. This involves the diffusion of scents into the air and the application of diluted essential oils to the skin as part of the massage oil. You acknowledge that while these are high-grade oils, they can potentially cause skin sensitivity, irritation, or allergic reactions. Certain oils (notably citrus) may cause photosensitivity, and you will be advised to avoid direct sun exposure on treated areas for 12-18 hours following the use of these specific oils.

2. Your Commitment to a Safe & Effective Session

Your active participation is key to your wellness journey. As our client, you agree to:

  • Communicate Openly: You agree to inform your practitioner immediately if you experience any pain, discomfort, or other concerning symptoms during the session. Your comfort is our top priority.
  • Provide Accurate Health Information: You will provide a complete and accurate health history and inform your practitioner of any pre-existing conditions, injuries, allergies, or sensitivities. You understand that some health-related questions may seem unrelated to your primary complaint but are essential for a comprehensive assessment and to ensure your treatment is safe and appropriate.
  • Disclose Pregnancy: It is crucial that you inform your practitioner if you are, or suspect you might be, pregnant, as some techniques may need to be modified.
  • Remain Still During Treatment: For your safety and the effectiveness of certain techniques, you agree to remain as still as possible while the practitioner is performing precise work.

3. Privacy, Comfort & Draping

Your privacy and comfort are paramount.

  • To facilitate treatment, you may be asked to remove certain items of clothing. You will be professionally draped with sheets or towels at all times, with only the area being worked on being undraped. Your modesty and comfort will be respected throughout the entire session.

4. Your Home Visit: Creating a Therapeutic Environment

To ensure our practitioner can provide the best possible service in your home, you agree to provide:

  • A Safe & Appropriate Space: A clean, safe, and reasonably quiet space large enough to accommodate a massage table and allow the practitioner to move around it freely.
  • A Distraction-Free Environment: To gain the most benefit from your session, we ask that you manage any potential distractions. Please make arrangements for pets to be secured in another room during the treatment.
  • Accessible Parking: Please provide information regarding safe and accessible parking for your practitioner.

Practitioner Safety: Our practitioners have the right to work in a safe and respectful environment. We reserve the right to terminate a session and leave the premises if the environment is deemed unsafe or if the practitioner experiences any form of inappropriate language or behaviour. In such cases, the full session fee will be charged.

5. Mutual Rights, Policies & Agreement

  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You understand that both you and your practitioner have the right to decline or withdraw consent for treatment at any time, for any reason.
  • Cancellation Policy: We understand that life happens. However, as a mobile business, we dedicate significant time to travel and preparation. We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for any cancellation or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged 50% of the session fee. No-shows will be charged the full session fee.
  • Release of Liability: You consent to treatment from the practitioners associated with FlowAtHome.co.nz. You hereby release and hold harmless FlowAtHome.co.nz and its practitioners from any and all claims of damages or injury that may result from your treatment. You acknowledge that you are booking this service at your own risk.
